Tummy
If you have $11.95 to spare, do yourself a favour and drop by Clarke Quay. No, not to club. But to the new Burger King Whopper Bar. No, not the one just outside Clarke Quay NEL. A definite winner with you being a king to customize your burger to the delectable sauces or toppings you prefer on a single, double or triple flame grilled beef patty. I did a double yesterday along with an extra ham topping and had me full up till this very moment. Nini had a spicy mexicana burger. It has nachos and salsa sauce in it. Nachos on a burger ok! Pure genius. All this in a very cool industrial like setting. Don't blame me if you're addicted to this. Would be an even guilt free trip if you bring your own weighing scale.

Repeat

You guys HAVE GOT TO check out The XX. Particularly the song "Basic Space". You really HAVE GOT TO. My god you have no idea how i've been swaying my head left to right left to right to this song. When the guitar tingle kicks in at the 1:12 mark, mannnnnnnnnnnnnn that is the drug i tell you. The video's trippy to boot. In another similar moody tune, give O.Children a listen. The vocalist will blow you away with his voice. Never judge a book by it's cover is indeed true of this one. Listen to him and tell me he doesn't sound like Ian Curtis. So as a disclaimer, i wouldn't really expect any of you would agree with these 2 recommendations. I just think they seriously kick ass.

Balls
Walking around and noticing people exuding a cool dress sense does stimulate the eyes. Those with bold statements splashed across their tops excites me and nini further. Some tees spotted for example are:
- Nobody is perfect. I'm Nobody.
- I hate attention seekers.
- Late, but always worth the wait.
And the best seen thus far, a tee which instead bears the favourite stereotyped F word expletive followed by a You, but it actually says Fax You! (has a fax machine graphic to boot)
These people light up my life.

Yes

Could not have asked for a better release date for a movie i've been dying to watch all year. Zooey Deschanel's getting married to Ben Gibbard okkkkkk. A cute girl like her getting married to a death cab for cutie. Indie cuteness overload. Morrissey and The Smiths alike did had something to do with me and Nini. So a movie of such musical reference (Zooey cooing There Is A Light That Never Goes Out in the lift with Joseph just did it for me) is a must watch with her. I can't wait. Like seriously.

Now

The people who made the 2 years of National Service sane. Even sane seems to be an understatement. Crazy to think on how we stuck together through the good and bad times either in camp or jungles doing god knows what. Kind of miss cooking maggi with them at the back of the workshop at 8am, 10am and 3pm. Yes, we were such poor and hungry boys to the point our staff sergeant bought us numerous packets of maggi curry upon seeing our plight. Then by default, we had to cook for him too.

Matter
Recent conversations with Nini and other people about life and where are we heading to in the future seems like a scary place to be. Some of the acquaintances we know are engaged, married, own a house to their names and already having children. Which amazes me and Nini the amount of dedication and sacrifice they have to achieve their goals. In simple malay lingo, it's plainly said as "antara nak atau tak nak ajer". I won't lie to say that the pressure isn't affecting me but it is. I'm no longer 18 and anyone who still think they are but their legal age proves otherwise should take a hike. Not everything in this world is all rainbows and unicorns.
Having been working for 2 years now, it's quite a harsh reality to see what you earn monthly could be gone in a matter of days. Having that eager excitement to draw out money from the ATM every certain date of the month and seeing what's left in the end is quite depressing. But as always, after thinking it through on where the money went, i can't really complain. For knowing where the money flowed to from the transactions i've made, are more towards financial responsibilities which i won't mention. Asking parents for support at my age now is not an option. It's plain to see that parents could only bear with you financially to a certain stage in life and the rest is really just up to you. Seeing my mum waking up every morning saying she's tired to go to work or my dad having to work the morning shift and flagging a cab at 4.30am just pains me. Here i am working for only 2 years thus far and my parents have been working for 30 years, i'm nowhere near what they have experienced with all the hardships they went through in the early years as a newly wed couple to those years of raising me.
Life is hard unless you're Paris Hilton. I ain't no Hilton. Just some regular guy working day in and out slogging overtime need be, to sustain the plans and dreams i have not only with Nini, but my parents too. No doubt some bickering would occur along the way be it regarding work schedules etc, it's the bigger picture we're facing in the end. I can't have a much bigger disdain for having a "see how it goes" attitude without doing something concrete. Which of course would turn out to be nothing. Life ain't gonna work for you. You have to work for life. If you do just that, that rainbow or unicorn in the end might exist after all.
Oh, 32 baybeh.

Explosions & Glamour

The national day long weekend has seen it's busy holiday trips among families and just a relaxing one at home for some. Nini had her company's dinner and dance over at M Hotel and the following day was a trip to Marina Bay for NDP. 6 tickets scored and i brought along my aunt, uncle and cousin, mum and nini. All first timers to the scene. My dad was working but even if he wasn't, he'd rather sleep. Let's move on to the pictures of both events yeah.

Myself, nini's colleague Dan and his partner Attica.

That's the "i'm gonna scoop everything on the buffet line" face. Tie optional.

Epic performance by their very own staff. Thought i was in some Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon musical.

The glamour girl and her ever in black boy.

Sometimes the intention is pure but the end result proves otherwise. Just saying. Kids grow up so fast nowadays. Which part of growth, you decide.

One of the parachutist has 3900 jumps to his name. Compared to me, i only have IPPT standing broad jump.

One of the first to land nicely to earth.

As the saying goes, when you've got to go, you've got to go.

My dear mum and her excuse to wear her hat.

Extravaganza bonanza.

Boom boom pow.

Collection of the night's big bang and finale.

Here's how we show our love to Singapore. With shining hearts beating as one. Hahahaha.

Yak Yak Yak
Heard someone saying "aiyah i want to go shit now" the other day at work. Those seven words coming out from a hipster girl. Did not expect that at all. In another situation, while me and the ma'am were eating at Dunkin Donuts @ ION yesterday, the couple sitting beside us particularly the girl, said Dunkin Donuts are for swakoo Singaporeans who have never eaten donuts before. All that said while she was chewing on her strawberry filling donut. Such clever statements from the same said person who asked her boyfriend after that whether half a dozen equates to 12.

Delicate
The ma'am persuaded me to taste a certain malay kuih called "Tapai". Sure i've seen my parents eating them before and the sweet scent wafting in the air upon exposure from the banana wrapped leaves. Never tasted it in my life before and with constant persuasion from her, i tried consuming a small portion of it. I squirmed as i tried to swallow it quickly. So tapai is in my rejected list of foods along with bean sprouts. It's hard being french-mexican.
