maybe it is true, every dude whose entering NS must come down to Beach Rd to get basic necessities. the shops there even have a typewrittened list of must-haves...of course u need not adhere to every single stuff on the list or else you'll end up spending a bomb. anyways, i'll enlighten you on some of the things you're expected to bring with the visuals below. i ain't gonna show everything that's needed so i'll just make do with the stuff Nasser bought yesterday. last minute i might add.

L-R: Ziplocs, Prickly Heat Powder, $1.40 lock, black tape (i dunno why other colours weren't favourable. almost everyone said buy black tape), Fab Anti-Bacterial Detergent with 20% cleaning power. wait, with lemon smell somemore. lastly, clothes scrubber.
an insight, it's amusing how the sellers there like to use the word STANDARD. examples:
Customer: is this lock rigid? i'm afraid it can break easily due to it's small size.
Seller: no lah. this lock STANDARD.
Customer: (when buying white socks) Cannot wear ankle socks?
Seller: This one STANDARD.
i guess u get the idea already. maybe they save time answering questions with Standard to pesky people. after all the buys, it's Arab Street mania next.

the pakcik rilek diet. consisting of Roti Kahwin & Tea. roti kawin in english is marriage bun for this context ryte? erm...

pakcik rilek diet for long/short sighted people.
note that roti kawin is merely a spread of kaya and margarine on the bread. i dunno how that name came up but i learnt that word from my dad. he said it's an old term used back in the day and usually bai sarbat stalls serve this bread. very klasik indeed.

Franz Ferdinand's asian representative seen at Arab Street. checking out the perfect venue for a gig around the area.

it's frustrating to see some upcoming foreign band suddenly popping out in the local media be it through mtv, radio & magazines. all the reviews generated make them sound like the "IT band" or "the next big thing". bands which consists of good looking guys/girls with sappy/radio friendly songs. if you can see the trend, these bands tap into the Asian market first especially here in Singapore. only to disappear into obscurity after making a quick buck. promotions for them are the "all out" kind. reaching out to the teens who will just go goo-goo ga-ga over cute guys/girls who sings love songs. sales shoot up, money is made & poof, disappearance. why promote such bands with so much verve when all the while the music they make are ordinary and forgettable? when local bands who are gaining popularity are left aside and radio stations thinking twice to play their music. it would be nice to have a radio station which plays local music just like BBC's radio DJ Steve Lamacq does. he scours indie and underground bands in the music scene in England and plays it on radio. for he knows the real essence lies in those music. but all is well, everyone has their preferences. maybe it's just better to hear a Rooster crow in the morning. if u try to read between the lines, you'll know which band i'm talking about.
