Amazing Race Kapcai Style
west coast park played host to the amazing race today. 8 teams of 10 members competed for a budget radio. however budget it was, the radio would be an essential item in the workshop as it is the only form of entertainment and the only tunes our ears would accept compared to the sounds of repetitive loud hammer knocks throughout the day. my team got 4th & it was a fun experience walking around the park finding the clues given. below are some of the tasks. won't be listing all but only the ones i could remember.

1. find the number to call for graffiti enquiries

2. take a picture with the most beautiful woman. as it was only 9am or so, most girls are in school so our superior settled for this woman. kind of doubt his taste...

3. strike the funniest pose with a fire hydrant. hard one to accomplish.

4. find the maximum clearance for the underpass. happiness all around as we all met the height requirement.

5. find an orange dustbin. orange makes people jumpy.

6. count the number of sprinklers in the pond. managed to squeeze some time to strike a boyband pose as a tribute to the backstreet boys.

7. fix a tamiya car in the shortest time possible. flashbacks of primary school started to roll. miss those plastic car racing days.
after all the walking & kancheong spider moments, it was time for the standard obstacle course (SOC), kapcai style.

the coach conveying the strategy to his men. 1 way in, 1 way out through the ears.

the get go's

if only the SOC in tekong was like this...

race against time and the blardy ropes
our group clocked in 2.5 minutes and overall we ended up 4th. if only we got 3rd, we'd still get a radio, but a much cuter smaller one. the pictures below are other random snaps of the day.

cobweb of technicians

the dudes i'm going through NS with till ORD.

our superior with the 2 most popular guys in camp. raja & abang long.

not that he doesn't want it, he's just shy.

the owner of the digicam in which all these pictures were taken. dropped by for a photoshoot while i hijacked the pictures to the comp. a budding singer whose already in the finals of an NTU talentime event sometime next week.

The Woohoo's, Mocca & Longan Kid

weekend with the woohoo's of the former & present ayer rajah dudes. a wet saturday at the esplanade to watch our poly friend with the debut of his band, Page. klasik tunes from them nonetheless. and as usual, capturing the last train home is always thrilling. thanks to the rowdy & drunk kids aboard the orange cabin for the drama mama action. atleast there's entertainment.

the past & present of the ayer rajah familia

silhoutte of sorts

comfy couches

freddie mercury's posing double at his disposal.

since poly, people mentioned we looked similar. this is when i scratch my head & analyse. still can't configure though.
Mocca @ Earshot.

chillout ambience. intimate performance. catch them again this friday & saturday. let them lull you with their dreamy indiepop tunes.

opening band, My Writes

Mocca

the peeing ghost captured on digicam. not a scary spirit at all. bubbly character though.

longan kid, the cute mute boy and his bespectacled ma'am and 1/3 of the franz ferdinand gig goers.

brotherly love in the form of longan feedings.

for 3 years running, i forgot to peel off the price tag of my mum's birthday present. yesterday was no different. maybe it was the spur of excitement of wanting to give the present immediately and assuming that the cashier of the gift shop would knowingly peel off that sticky piece of paper. nonetheless, seeing her smile admiring the gift wipes off the careless notion in me. and yes, glad to see she's aging gracefully.
the video link below shows a cool 8 piece band. having an accordion player in it adds a klasik touch at that. enjoy.

technician's work close with drivers to rectify any problems on their vehicles. in an informal group discussion a few days ago, my officer asked the whole group:
"if a technician's bible is the workshop manual, then what is the driver's bible?"
amid the blur sotong faces, one brave soul nonchalantly said, Street Directory Book. bright kid.
shall be linking up music videos every now & then. enjoy.

circa 2001, the eardrums got hooked on a certain track 10 of an album with a curvy butt as the cover. 5 years on, the feet are still tapping everytime the song is played. might be the compelling guitar riffs or the zesty lyrics. undoubtedly the most underrated The Strokes song. ever.
The signals don't seem right
It lasts for just one night, and then
I'm sorry that I said that we were just good friends

Toxic Apek And The 15 Minute Bang Bang

fireworks never fail to amaze me. the tinge of excitement being in awe looking up at the sky with charades of lights bursting can just make one feel happy deep down. i don't know about you but those pyrotechnics do make me feel that way. esplanade was buzzing with throngs of people moving slowly near to unknown bodies & even the long winding queues at woodlands checkpoint during festive periods couldn't beat the scene.

the former schoolmates. last met during graduation day. it's nice seeing them again.

4 budding models trying their modelling luck at Guess.

only the first alphabet corresponds to the dude touching it. the rest doesn't coincide at all.

waiting to get locked up.

phone booth guards.

the best place to sit down & chat.

mr cutie airi on blazer being hugged by his fan.

the fairest of them all on blazer

group shakes

discussions all round

the irony of it all. the dude on the left was the sergeant of my company back in tekong. now we converse as if we've been mates since forever.

the odour from this apek's stockings is so toxic, it's not funny. you'll be gagging and gasping for air. i did. such an innocent piece of cloth could inflict such serious chemical warfare at it's most ugly smelly state. get ready your surgical mask if you happen to sit opposite him in the train. wear 10 of those for all i care. don't say i didn't warn you. life is precious. don't let it succumb to toxic socks.
