Aftermath

The past week has got to be the most rarest occasion ever for catching internationally known musical acts over the space of a few days. Pure bliss all in all. It's going to be a lengthy ride pictorial wise, so bear with me.

Of Montreal

Photobucket

Psychedelic maestros Of Montreal brought with them their fun animated energy to the stage and hell yeah it was one of the most fun gigs ever. With crazy theatrics and utterly superb sounds abound, no wonder they sold out all their shows during the Mosaic festival. Having said that, below are the pictures the ma'am snapped.

Kevin Barnes' get-up was attached with a hose supplying smoke from the smoke machine. So he sang all the way in a cloud of smoke. And he still nailed all the high notes.

Photobucket
The first theatrics of the night. A "priest" walked around the stage to bless the band. Giving alms and prayers.

Photobucket
After which he couldn't control his inner demons and puckered his lips softly to the keyboardists' back.

Photobucket
In which after a fit of rage over his actions, he took of his robe and became a devil like minotaur.

Photobucket
Painted nails.

Photobucket
This black ninja pranced around the stage and eventually carried Kevin up.

Photobucket
Then an elegantly dressed tiger came on and fought with the ninja and showed his prowess.

Photobucket
That has got to hurt.

Photobucket
The bassist looks exactly like Ben Gibbard of DCFC and the guitarist looks like an authentic hippie. Splendid.

Photobucket
The curtsy keyboardist with the pink casio calculator watch. Much props for that.

Photobucket
The earlier minotaur came back on as an incarnation of a pink spandex wearing lothario. He actually bit some chips and threw the rest at the crowd. People who grabbed it did ate them. After his packet of chips finished, he threw glitter all around.

Photobucket
Later on he returned to be some hungry neanderthal smearing "blood" all over his body and roaring here and there.

Photobucket
SuperDinoMan.

N.E.R.D
Photobucket

Yup, N.E.R.D. Wouldn't want to miss seeing Pharrell after reading about him in magazines and online blogs regarding his career and life. Hell, he has his own KAWS Kompanion life sized scuplture in his Miami home. If that's not cool enough, i don't know what else is.

Photobucket
Me and the rest ran all the way down to the stage after seeing everyone doing the same thing. Chaotic scenes once Spaz, Everyone Nose, Killjoy and Anti Matter was played.

Photobucket
20 girls easily got up the stage handpicked by Pharrell to assist him to the song She Wants To Move. 3 individual girls got to dance with him. And by dance, it's somewhere between letting out the inner animal in you. Feisty as it comes.

Melanie Pain's gig was unfortunately camera free. The steward auntie was so uptight about everything. So no pictures of Melanie Pain in her white dress. Sorry. But the setting and music felt like being in a breezy meadow.

Coldplay

This gig was W-O-W. No matter what people say about them being mainstream and pop or whatever, they really do deserve all the accolades they've achieved thus far. From a toothy young man singing Yellow by the beach at the break of day to multiple Grammy award winners. Shit, this gig was an absolute experience.

Everything about the gig was well tuned. From the laser displays, in synced lights and quality sounds. Much much better gig from 2 years ago. By a mile.

Photobucket
The bunch of people sitting by the side has got to be the most luckiest people on earth. How close can you get you tell me. They're like performing just in front/back of you.

Photobucket
It rained confetti during the end of the encore with them closing the set with Life In Technicolor 2. But seeing Chris Martin on the piano tinkling off the ivories singing The Scientist before the show ended did it for me. I came there just for that particular song. Gwyneth Paltrow is one hell of a lucky lady to have a husband who wrote a sweet tune like that for her.

Photobucket
The fellowship after the gig. Hoarse voices thereafter.

Photobucket
Caught up with Yuna. She was game for a round of pictures with us. We were like giggling kids when we wanted to approach her.

Photobucket
And lastly, when 2 worlds collide, i hope there's a big bang. Muz + Yuna = MuzNa. Which is a sub-par malay interpretation of Destroy. Fierce or what. Would love to see a collaboration between Muz and Yuna musically. That dude can sing ok. Check him out at www.myspace.com/muzdecruz. Close to 400 hits on his song Crashdown has to mean something right. The song is accompanied with lyrics too. This boy is just waiting to be discovered and alas his rockstar dreams will come true.

End.

Abang Muz

Photobucket

He turns 23 today. He who got stopped by johor immigration custom officers during our KL trip a few years back, of all things for not changing his passport photo. You can't really expect to breeze through customs with a primary school passport photo right? That's his interpretation of acting cute i suppose. He says it's just his rockstar ways. Ah yelah tu.

Waiting

The ma'am did a video capture of various poster colours dripping drop by drop into a fishtank full of water. A gamut of colours slowly danced around the space and thinly absorbs to it's new environment. The final few drops of black pigment bleaked out the entire tank and that to me, was a pretty art moment. All this done over at my house with the help of my dad and the logistical maestro of my mum. It helps that my dad understands all these arty things and i'm glad the ma'am could converse with him without feeling awkward. Can't wait to see the end product of the video which had us trespassing the Song Sister's House with 3 huge bags and other art friend stuffs, being an arsonist in a remote part of Teck Whye and turning an army buddy of mine into a dayak for a whole hour.

Photobucket
This is Hafiz. Second name Navarro. The accidental actor in the video. Game for anything even if it means smearing black camouflage paint to his face. Cool macam Pharrell Williams.
